Mr. Metz has over 25 years of experience handling significant civil litigation cases in state and federal courts throughout Florida. While serving in Japan as an assault amphibian officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, he met Mariko, his wife for more than 29 years. Mariko provides language translation for Japanese clients seeking legal representation in Florida.
The Marine Corps instilled in Mr. Metz a determined sense of honor and commitment, which continues to drive his pursuit of excellent representation for his clients. He has a strong sense of public duty which is reflected in his decades of political activism and leadership in organizations that promote equal access to the law. In 1989, he received an award from Broward Lawyers Care for "leadership in providing free legal services to the low-income residents of Broward County. In 1990, he received a similar award for "his outstanding contribution ensuring equal access to the legal system for the economically disadvantaged of Broward County." From 1991-1997, he was a member of the 17th Judicial Circuit Guardian Ad Litem Program, providing pro bono representation to children in contested domestic cases.
